100 is the magic number

March 8, 2011

February 8, 2011, was the hundredth day of school for Viking students. Marlene Taylor’s Grade 5 class was encouraged to come up with Hundredth Day projects that would incorporate 100 of any item they chose. One student, Karli Haeberle (second from left above) chose a project to benefit those less fortunate. To reach her goal of collecting 100 items to donate to the local food bank, she sought donations from her family, neighbours and Dr. Brian Nordstrom’s dental office. This was not the first time Karli has tackled a project to help others. In a previous year, she collected donations to raise $100 for the Stollery Children’s Hospital. The other children pictured are Kaitlyn Brooke (far left) with her list of 100 song artists, and Dexter Lefsrud and Brett Vitek (second from right and far right, respectively) with their collection of 100 hockey cards.
